The Anchor Choice Board (for most fifth grade students) is here: Anchor choice board. Currently all students stay in their base classes when they are not in band, but in November we plan to begin to move students around to better meet individual needs.
Johnny's anchor group typically chooses projects that are important to them, this may be as individuals or as groups, and work to find a way to improve various places or situations.
Teresa's anchor group is a small group that works on some foundational skills, as well as some study/classroom expectation habits. It is a time for students to get a little more one-on-one or small group help to solidify understanding of their classroom assignments. They also work on a small in-class individual independent project. Skills they enhance/build are: Research, organization of materials, reading comprehension of non-fiction text, writing, math, and social studies/science oriented connections.
Cheryl's Anchor Group will be focusing on Guided Reading Circles. This will be a time to improve reading comprehension, fluency and the ability to articulate (verbally and in writing) responses to questions.
